1. What are the Hongdian GPRS/CDMA products major application areas?

Hongdian is a company focused on GPRS and CDMA data communications for industries and utilities, provides the power of M2M (Machine to Machine) communications. Our products had been widely used for utilities, bank (branch office, POS, ATM), SCADA system and many other applications. We have three series product.

• GPRS or CDMA 1x Modem, it is an industrial class GPRS or CDMA 1x modem built-in with watch-dog, inter-control interface and protocol (RS-232 type only); it should work with a host based device. Thanks to the inter-control function, the host based device can talk with the modem each other, and can control the modem working status, such as radio link online or offline, power on and off. Co-operate with our dialup software installed in the host, the GPRS/CDMA modem can detect the GPRS/CDMA link situation. If the GPRS/CDMA link is failed, it will re-dial automatically until establish the communication channel. If it fails 3 tries, the modem will restart automatically.
  　
• GPRS or CDMA 1x DTU, it is a data termination unit which works over GSM/GPRS or CDMA 1x radio network. It is a terminal built-in with processor, RTOS, TCP/IP protocol stack, application software and so on. It works stand alone without any host based device to provide a RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 serial port interface; it provides a transparent channel from/to remote side and your data center. The major application areas are the industrial SCADA system, such as power distribution network, pipe line, running water supervision and weather station data acquisition, etc.
  　
• GPRS or CDMA 1x Router, it is an embedded hardware and software design with a fully integrated GSM/GPRS or CDMA 1x radio channel and full branch router functions, such as NAT, DMZ, routing table, DHCP, Dynamic DNS, firewall and so on; it also provides a RS-232 interface for non IP based device to access the TCP/IP network via mobile communication network. With the built-in functions, if the router found GPRS or CDMA link failed, it re-dial automatically until establish the communication channel. If it fails 3 tries, restart GPRS or CDMA part automatically. The router is a very good function for industrial application. Also there are many other special functions for bank application.

2. Does Hongdian GPRS product support North American frequency band?

Hongdian GPRS equipments support all GSM/GPRS band (800/900/1800MHz or 850/1900MHz); but you have to specify your mobile network frequency band before ordering.

3. Does Hongdian CDMA 1x product support dual frequency band?

Hongdian CDMA 1x equipment supports dual frequency band. However, we do not have it in stock because of we do not have customer require dual frequency band equipment in China. You may be required to order it in advance.

4. What should we do the engineering implement of DTU?

DTU is a data termination unit works standalone; it provides a transparent channel (something like a lease-line) between your remote site and your data service center. It connects your remote terminal unit (RTU) via RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 interface. It is very easy to configure DTU by the Hypertext Terminal (it is your PC accessory program). There are several parameters you have to setup before putting it in service, such as mobile access dial number, data service center IP address or domain name, TCP or UDP, operation mode, RS-232 interface and so on. It supports multi-data center. According to your application requirements, you can set it works at always online, transmit on time interval and request transmission by center, etc.

Center from/to multi-point is the typical application system infrastructure. At the remote end, it is very easy to connect the DTU to your remote terminal unit. There is no development work you need to do. However, at the data service center end, you may be required to develop a software interface to integrate with the customer’s application software. We provide a SDK in free of charge for engineering development, or you can develop it at the basis of TCP/IP protocol. Meanwhile, we can provide a VSPD (Virtual Serial Port Driver) to convert the information into serial port format.

5. Does Hongdian Galaxy router support VPN + IPSec and VRRP?

For VPN tunnel + IPSec and VRRP functions, we have two version routers that supports VPN + IPSec and routing backup functions. However, we do not recommend this function for GPRS network. As you know, the VPN and IPSec need more redundancy bandwidth; normally there are more than 30% channel bandwidth will exhausted for the secured policy. In order to have a secured data transmission over GPRS network, we suggest customers talk with GPRS service provider, apply a APN (Access Point Name) group for the specified user. Meanwhile, customer should apply the access to connect their data center from GPRS service provider's gateway. More illustrations refer to the diagram 1. This is the solution we co-operated with China Mobile, and had implemented for China bank system.

If you do need the VPN + IPSec function, you can active the embedded VPN functions in our Galaxy router. Refer to the diagram 2 for your reference.

6. How can I reset my Galaxy router to its factory defaults?

You can press and hold the "Reset" button on rear panel for 5 seconds to reset the Galaxy router back to its default factory configurations; or press "Default Setting" button on the page "Configuration Profile" to restore router to default factory settings.

The difference is that "Reset" button will reset the login password to default setting, and "Default Setting" button will not affect the login password.

7. How can I get the latest firmware releases for my Galaxy router?

Visit Hongdian website at "Support" > "Software Update" section for full details; or enter your Galaxy router's "Online Help" page, click "Online Help" item to check updates.
