H5920 GPRS/CDMA Data Acquisition Manager

1. General

Nowadays, many types of equipment do provide some form of alarm signal to interface to monitoring devices for reporting of various malfunctions or abnormalities; and many operators do want to know their equipment operation status at anytime and anywhere. There are various kinds of signal that the equipment can send out, most common of which are open or closure of one or more switch (relay) contacts. For instance, telecom relay stations (i.e. BTS, Microwave relay station) usually provide signals such as incoming power fail, battery mode, battery level low and switchover failure. An air-conditioner system may provide signals such as power on/off, compressor over-temperature. Also there are many requirements to monitoring warehouse and household door status, temperature and humidity, etc.

H5920 DAM (Data Acquisition Manager) is a device developed by Hongdian to provide the Short Message Service (SMS) for those applications. It is an enhanced SMS messenger and manager (GPRS or CDMA 1x service optional) integrated with RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) functions.

The equipments to be monitored are connected to H5920 DAM using these alarm signaling contacts. H5920 DAM keeps a constant watch over all the contacts. Whenever any contact input changes of status (either from close to open or from open to close), it is captured by H5920 DAM. It will then process the input according to the settings configured by the user. Then the messages will be sent to one or more mobile phones and/or the supervision centers via SMS.

H5920 DAM is designed with the industrial class hardware platform. It works standalone. Just install and use it. No further development works are required for most of application.

H5900 family product includes:

  • H5910 DAM (Data Acquisition Messenger)

H5910 Data Acquisition Messenger is a device with Mini RTU + GSM/CDMA Module, provides 8 RI inputs, 2 RM inputs or 2 RC outputs and 1 RS-232/485 serial interface.

  • H5920 DAM (Data Acquisition Manager)

H5920 Data Acquisition Manager is a full function RTU + GPRS/CDMA 1x Module, provides 8 RI inputs, 8 RM inputs, 4 RC outputs and 2 RS-232/485 serial interface (depends the type of configuration). It can be extended accordingly. With the built-in Web server, it can be accessed via web interface.

H5920 Data Acquisition Manager is an ARM CPU and Linux operation system based platform. It can receive and manage the messages from/to H5910 DAM.

  • Centra2000 Center Software Platform

It is a high performance supervision and control platform from the third party.

Note:
RI=Remote Indication (Digital input)
RM=Remote Measurement (Analog input)
RC=Remote Control (Digital output)

H5900 DAM system can used in many applications, the below diagram is the typical system configuration.

Embedded WEB server

With the H5920 DAM built-in Web server, it is easy for operators to configure and manage the system operation by the IE browser.

NTP clock synchronizing

H5920 DAM supports NTP, it will synchronize the system clock to a clock server over the Internet.

Remote configuration and editing

As we know, re-assigning of operation personnel, a change of mobile phone number is also common. H5920 DAM allows users to remotely add, change or delete any mobile phone numbers in H5920 DAM memory. Therefore, the authorized personnel can perform the change from anywhere using their mobile phone. Where there are many installed sites, this feature saves time and cost.

H5920 DAM also has a feature to allow users to remotely define the SMS contents including the site name, message description, over-limitation, receipt and so on. The remote indications can be defined in accordance with the events property by the operator. There are four grades can be defined:

  • Fatal: indicates the equipment or system does not work.
  • Serious: indicates the equipment or system performance will be decreased.
  • Warning: indicates the equipment or system is something wrong.
  • Notice: indicates the equipment or system operation status has been changed.

Meanwhile, it is also very easy to change the settings via web interface. Log into H5920 DAM and the changes can be done remotely over the Internet (if it is connected to Internet).

Remote querying

Authorized users can also send the specified SMS to query the status of remote indication/measurement inputs or remote control outputs. This is very useful feature to determine the present status of monitored equipments.

SMS receipt and acknowledgement

If the receipt function enabled, when an alarm is triggered, it will request a receipt from the SMS receiver to confirm if the SMS has been sent, and then log this receipt at the center server (if it is available).

If an alarm happened repeatedly at a specified interval (can be set by user), the SMS will be sent repeatedly to the users. To cancel repeat sending, any mobile phone that received the SMS can acknowledge to H5920 DAM by replying the acknowledge command. Once H5920 DAM received the acknowledgement command is will stop sending further SMS for this trigger.

Event Logging

The H5920 DAM and monitored equipment operation events will be logged. Every input-output triggering and SMS receipt that takes place is captured and saved in flash memory. The received SMS are also captured saved. Histories can be viewed on Web pages or can be saved to other database program for analysis and reporting.

Configuration and operation data backup

All the system configuration parameters and monitored equipment operation status data can be retrieved to other computers for backup.

RS-232/485 serial interface

At many circumstances, there is an equipment (i.e. power meter, RTU, etc.) with RS-232 or 485 data interface. H5920 DAM provides two serial port interfaces for this connection.

For the specified device, Hongdian can provide the protocol conversion software, and then send the related messages to mobile phone user.
